Health issues

November 13th, 2006 at 03:32 pm

Took my blood pressure this morning and was horrified to discover that I who have always had low low blood pressure is hitting numbers on that dial I don't like. No more salt or soda for me!!! I need to lose a few pounds as well (OK, Quite a few). If that doesn't fix the problem I am going to have to see a doctor. I have too much to live for to fool around. I think I'll take a bit of time for me everyday and sew or stamp as well. Started Christmas cards last night, I am making 90 of them. It isn't relaxing to make that many believe me!!

I was drinking a lot of soda too! Switching right to water didn't work for me. What did was switching to Arizona Diet Green Tea. Sweetened with splenda. Thought I'd toss it to you as an idea if you need to "step down from soda".

Good luck on tweaking your diet and exercise plans. I'm continually working on mine!

Another great thing for the old blood pressure is a bit of extra exercise. Aren't there low sodium sodas like diet rite?
    Good luck!

A Doctor told me that if you have to drink a Cola that Diet-Rite is the only one to drink. Not only is soda's bad for blood pressure, but they also leach the calcium out of your bones. One doctor said that you need to drink 30 glasses of water to flush out 1 can of soda. I used to be really addicted to soda's. It can be done. I can now drink water with my pizza, or hamburger and not think about it. Once in a while, I'll have a soda. That shouldn't hurt anyone. It's the everyday stuff that is the culprit.

When I started getting off margarine and subsituting it with butter, it took a while before I didn't miss the margarine taste. Just take one thing away from yourself at a time and it won't be quite as hard to do.

babysteps, glad you woke up to the dangers of daily consumption, I am sure you can change the habits, just take one at a time and do it ..for real...for long term...for the chance to see your great grandkids...
