I want a Fence!!! (rant)

January 15th, 2008 at 07:36 pm

I am so disgusted with someone. I don't know who of course, have to protect the people who don't have anything better to do than complain about others. We have 2 large dogs, a shepherd and a golden. They love to be outside in the snow and we have runs for them where they can reach each other. They are never out when we aren't home. Today my DH put them out in the morning before work. Usually we don't do that but he had to be home 3 hours later. 3 hours is not a long time for those two. They were happily playing and watching the world go by with occasional barking while I homeschooled my two. I kept an eye on them through the schoolroom window because if they lay down for too long then they need to come in. At 10:15 a policeman knocked on my door and told me they were out too long. I explained that it wasnt even 3 hours and he said they have no food water or shelter. OK< they eat at night and if I put out water they knock it over and play in it. Shelter they don't need if I am keeping an eye on them. He said in order to make sure they don't get any more calls I have to not put them out. We used to put them out after DH got home for a couple hours and that was it besides quick trips. We take good care of our animals. I checked when I brought them in and their skin was warm and dry. For that matter the fur wasn't wet or cold either. I want a privacy fence!! Actually I want to move!! I have no idea who did this to us and now don't know who to trust. GRRRRR.

Why does he want them in, is it too cold for them to stay outside in the daytime??

It was probably someone who meant well.

My father had that happen to him once as well. We had a fenced in yard but they were upset by the lack of dog house. He didn't have a dog house because he sleeps inside. It was really weird but we got a dog house (which the dog never used) so that it wasn't a future issue.

What was especially weird was that we had a neighbor down the street whose dogs were on rope (yes real rope) leashes, maggots in the wounds, and had dog houses but that is considered taking good care of the animals. Take about only the letter of the law mattering...

I feel your pain. We had a person report DS's old car as a junk vehicle on the street since it's registration expired. The police officer I talked to told me just to turn it around the other way or move it to the other side or something and it would be legal. I know this person meant well, but good grief. They knew we owned the car. They just didn't like looking at it on the street. I guess I couldn't really blame them for feeling that way. But it was on the portion of the street right in front of our house not in front of anyone else's. We had just been proscratinating getting rid of it. Which we did. I guess the guy who reported it was happy!

Oh Geee - what a patootie pain!! Can you investigate your locale's laws for yourself so you know your rights as well?

Can you wire a water bucket/bowl to a fence? String up some kind of that black garden cloth to provide shade? Are they supposed to have some kind of wind break or something?
